Responsible for obtaining and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the HR systems and processes to better support department goals and initiatives. This position will support the implementation of configuration and workflow changes to HR systems and processes as approved by the appropriate committee. With the guidance of department representatives, the incumbent will design future-state workflows and build the systems to support the new workflow.  Serves as a resource for HR team members related to HR technologies. The HR Business Analyst works with others across interdisciplinary groups and is a representative of the Human Resources Operations team. As such, he/she is responsible for establishing and maintaining critical business relationships with fellow co-workers.



  • A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major course work in business administration, computer technology/science, Human Resources or a closely related field is required. Substantial work experience (10 years or more) may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong understanding of HR fundamentals and processes
  • Minimum of 5- 7 years of experience in data analytics, process optimization, or business analyst capacities with progressive responsibilities
  • Understanding of basic accounting and finance principles preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience required. PMP Preferred
  • Previous experience with HRIS systems and ancillary technologies required
  • Understanding of Schema Design and Data Modeling concepts
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly and creatively
  • Previous experience acting as liaison between operations and technical functions ensuring proper documentation of systems functions and capabilities and facilitating the training of staff.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and quality of work delivered
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and to prioritize a large number of conflicting and frequently changing priorities.
  • Previous experience developing reports and dashboards utilizing report writing software (i.e. Crystal Reports) required. Basic SQL programming preferred. 
  • Experience designing and documenting ETL processes and tuning, optimizing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools and advanced knowledge with Excel, including Pivot Tables and Access Databases
  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma concepts and/or certification preferred.
  • The successful candidate should be highly motivated, a quick learner and has desire to take initiative
  • Excellent organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work unsupervised, exercising moderate degree of discretion and independent judgment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic and day-to-day analytical/technical support for issues that impact Human Resources and Payroll. 
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of existing HR systems. These systems cover the following functions of HR: Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, HR Operations, Employee Relations, Organization Development and Worker's Compensations.
  • Utilizes key stakeholders and other available resources to research, facilitate discussions, analyze and evaluate configuration options and provide recommendations to the leadership and solution teams.
  • Leads projects as needed related to HR technologies and analytics.
  • Collaborates with key team members to ensure solution meets requirements and gain an understanding of the context and impact of the solutions to the business operations.
  • Documents procedure and policy changes from current state model showing future state impacts of projects and/or configuration changes.
  • Responsible for process documentation.  Documents process flows for current and future state processes
  • Responsible for change management as it relates to HR technologies, performance improvement, and analytics and metrics within the HR department
  • Acts as an high level resource to HR team members as it relates to HR technologies and analytics
  • Facilitates resolution of HR technology issues on behalf of HR stakeholders wthin defined SLAs
  • Performs routine and complex configuration work in support of the HR functions.
  • Partners with Payroll, Finance Human Resources and Information Technology SMEs to identify opportunities to create more effective and efficient processes.
  • Provides HR technology training to staff members at all levels of the organization
  • Leads UAT testing as needed for HR technology implementations and software upgrades and patches.
  • Serves as Tier Two support to the HR Help Center related to HR technology issues
  • Leads development and coordination of HR analytics and data reporting to support the various functions and businesses.
  • Collaborates with HR and key team members in Finance and Information Technology areas to ensure delivery of consistent and relevant HR reports.
  • Designs, develops and interprets reports and dashboards which clearly and concisely show key workforce trends and problem areas. Construct reports/graphs that show status, trends, cost, volume, benchmarks, as well as opportunities for improvement in various HR activities.
